2 Corinthians — Chapter 11

The Apostle and the False Apostles

"For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ."

— 2Cor 11:13 ESV

2 Corinthians 11 is Paul's 'madness' — he compares himself to the false apostles, but his 'glory' is suffering for the Gospel.

😤 Paul's Madness (11:16-33)

2Cor 11:23-27
"Are they servants of Christ? (I am a madman—I am more. I am talking like a madman with respect to you.) I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one."
Paul’s list of sufferings is the most impressive apostolic résumé in the NT: 5 times 39 lashes, 3 times beaten with rods, once stoned, 3 shipwrecks, a night and a day adrift at sea, dangers from rivers, robbers, fellow countrymen, Gentiles, in the city, in the wilderness, at sea, and among false brothers. This is apostolic 'success' according to God.
