Galatians — Chapter 6

Carrying Burdens and the New Creation

"Far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ."

— Gal 6:14

Galatians 6 concludes with practical principles for community life and the final declaration: the only foundation for boasting is the cross of Christ.

🤝 Carrying Burdens (6:1-10)

Gal 6:1-2
"Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
Restoration (katartizete — to restore to the proper place, like a dislocated bone) must be done with gentleness and awareness of one’s own vulnerability. 'The law of Christ' is love — bearing one another’s burdens is the practical fulfillment of love.
Gal 6:7-9
"Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap... And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."
The principle of sowing and reaping applied to moral life. Sowing to the flesh produces corruption; sowing to the Spirit produces eternal life. The exhortation to perseverance: 'let us not grow weary' — fatigue is real, but the harvest is certain.

✝️ The Cross as the Only Foundation (6:14-18)

Gal 6:14-15
"Far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation."
The conclusion of the entire letter: the cross is the only foundation for boasting. Not circumcision, not works of the law, not ministerial success. The cross has crucified the world to Paul and Paul to the world — a radical separation from all worldly value systems. The new creation (kaine ktisis) is what matters.
