🌅 The Empty Tomb (16:1-8)
Mark 16:6-8
"But he said to them, ‘Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee... And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.’"
The original ending of Mark (16:8) is unsettling: the women flee in fear and say nothing to anyone. This abrupt ending is likely intentional — Mark leaves the reader suspended, invited to complete the story with their own response to the Risen One. Verses 9-20 are a later addition (absent from the best manuscripts). The 'go, tell his disciples and Peter' is notable: Peter, who had denied Jesus three times, is specifically mentioned — grace restores those who have failed. Galilee as the destination for the encounter with the Risen One points back to the beginning of the ministry — the story restarts.
